    It would probably work fine. I suspect aluminum inserts have a sharper cutting edge. I have used steel inserts on aluminum when finish is not important and taking cuts <1mm seems to work fine.     The way I look at it if they are going to game the system they can do it whether it is live or maximum bidding. I put in what I am willing to pay for it in maximum bid and leave it at that. Sometimes I win, but mostly I am finding out I am too cheap. :)

    I didn't realize that the holes were drilled all the way through. For some reason I thought they were blind holes. Why not use tapered machine screws?
