    Stuck chuck on Atlas lathe

Just a heads up that anti seize works way better than oil on spindle threads. Its used on muzzle loader threaded breech plugs, which is where I got the idea. Never again have I struggled to get my chuck off. You might try chucking up a piece of hex stock as large as the chuck bore, deeper than...

    Hello from GTA!

Hi from GTA, learning as i go. Built up a micro shop at home on a shoestring budget. For me machining expanded my capabillities in several other hobbies and has developed into a hobby itself as far as continually building and acquiring more machines and tools, and learning how to use them.

Turning a plug for a cardboard tube and bed wear.

Aluminium has a tendency to embed hard particles turning it into an abrasive. Cant think of any other explanation.

    mini mill motor upgrade?

Ive put a DC treadmjill motor on a few tools with suitably rated AC voltage regulator and rectifier for speed control, They worked well for me. I have a 4hp and 3.8hp for surfsce grinder and horizontal mill builds.

    Tool box organization

For plastic sheets for milling this kind of stuff try dollar store cutting boards. Works for me. I also use their silicone basting brush for chip removal because polyester paint brushes just melt. Sent from my H3123 using Tapatalk

    Kijiji welder, better than nothing!

I have a similar size mig/flux core combo with 80% duty cycle. Works great for my needs, I mostly use the flux core wire without gas. There's a mod for these that converts them to DC output which improves the weld quality a lot. Just do a search if interested. Not sure if that Lincoln is AC or...

    My collet blocks

Nice work on the collet blocks. I think the aluminum will get a beating from the hardened spring steel collets though. I bought ER32 & ER25 collet chucks with straight shanks and through holes. I drilled and bored out hex and square stock to slip the collet chucks into. Used a clamp like a...

Wanted: Table Top Hobby Size Bandsaw

Johnwa, that there is a power hacksaw. They work great, but a bit slower. Blades should be a snap now you know what it is. Edit... Looks like it's been identified already... Sent from my H3123 using Tapatalk

    4.5" discs for HSS

Brown cutoff wheels I'm familiar with in that size are for masonry. The steel ones are grey. Check you have the right disk. A steel cutting disk on a small angle grinder zipps through hss bits pretty quick.

    In the shop today

Not sure welding is the best method for a breach plug. I would look into a threaded plug. It needs to be much thicker too.
