    Identifying an odd thread.

Dabbler certainty helped me to spend money to buy a hole into which I could pour more money. Thanks I am having a great time learning. Gary

    New puzzle (mosquito)

I broke my first tool trying to pull one of the pins (also broke the head off the pin). I'm going to try a variation of Peter T's idea next. It's just time and scrap metal. Thanks for all the ideas.

    New puzzle (mosquito)

It's worth the visit if you get close. There is a very large scale radio control mosquito in north Victoria it's painted to model how the one at nanton will be finished (spartan livery)

    New puzzle (mosquito)

It's coming along. If you haven't seen it for a few years you should notice a change. As I said Saturday is the day to visit as the shop is open. Gary

That is more or less what I also envisioned but not sure I could execute.

Yes Peter that's it. The museum is only open on weekends in the winter. Saturday is the mosquito work day.

    New puzzle (mosquito)

The materials are a steel cylinder with aluminum heads, the pins are about 1/2 inch with the 1/4 inch know on the exposed end. Anyone wishing to visit the mosquito project should come on a Saturday.

    New puzzle (mosquito)

Who said er collet great idea sadly I was Un able to execute. I did manage to reduce the pin head from 0.250 to 0.240. So I did try. The head is only 0.25 in diameter. The part is the flap actuator (hydraulic cylinder)

    New puzzle (mosquito)

This a pin head (one of 16) that needs to be extracted. My challenge is to design and make an extracter (puller). As you can see the head is quite small with a narrow groove. The steel is not hard as it marks when gripped with pliers. No idea how stuck they are but I expect they have been...

I think I'm done just some clean up (isn't there always). I covered the oiler on the back so not sure what I'm going to do about that. The scale on the back only cost me 2 or 3 mm so not too bad. I have a few pictures and can post if anyone is interested.

    Tool MT 3 - ER40 Collet Chuck

I made a thread on ER32 chuck for my old imperial southbend. I played a mix and match game with the gears and got within about 1% of the metric threads. Works great. Gary
