Yup. I've seen people integrating power feeds for threading but it's complicated programming and I'm not up for that. I'll tap any threads I need and avoid the larger diameter stuff... or use the gears. My machine is underpowered in low-end torque as it is so having the gears off is better -...

That power feed module.... I'm thinking it might be a good alternative for driving the lead screw on my mini-lathe. I just don't like the gear train running off the spindle drive. How is the one you have working out for you??

The fellow I spoke to at Golden Triangle said they no longer allow people to come it and look for offcuts. You have to order and pickup, full price.. so. BUT. I got a quote from Online Metals a while ago and the only thing in my way was the problem of shipping. So thank you for the Shipsy...

    Chinese mini metal lathe differences?

Hmmm, maybe. To be totally honest, I was expecting more problems. I did have to grind a few machine screws down to clear some interferences. And A whole lot of gib tuning. But no show-stoppers.

    Chinese mini metal lathe differences?

Vevor MX 8x14 Chinese mini lathe rookie update. Pics attached. - I took a day and stripped everything down. There was a lot of what I'd call, "factory grit&oil" on all the bearing surfaces, gears and everywhere. - All the gibs were loose. A couple of bolt/screws had come undone and were...

I heard that too. I was hoping to find something wrong (but fixable) with it to followup with them for a rebate. But so far, I haven't found anything wrong. No chips yet.

Metal Supermarkets... Don Mills location McKinnon has a brand new building on Zenway in Woodbridge. They welcome pick-your-own-offcuts customers. Speaking to a manager there, you pick your stuff, weigh it, then buy it by the pound. Small pieces of plastic are free (depending). $4/lb for...

So, I'm new and need metal. I decided to do a bit of running around the Toronto west area looking for brass and aluminum to start. Here's the result" Metal Supermarkets. You pay for every inch. one piece of 306 brass round, 3/4" x 11.5". = $34 plus tax. (ie. $2.96/inch) But then I found...
