Words of caution - STOP sending me SALES e-mail

Over the past many years I have needed to contact several internet places of interest where they harvest one's email address with or without your permission, from that point forward my email was constantly bombarded with mostly sales spam pissing me off big time. Beginning of the new year I kicked myself into high gear contacting my short list of businesses via email, phone calls sometimes both where that simply didn't work out like it should.

Even though places like GM sales, KBC Tools, Travelers, Princess Auto, Lee Valley all assured me it was a done deal however, it never happened.

Finally my patience ran out so this past week I dug into my internet service provider blocking each and every one of them and shall continue doing so no matter how long their foolishness takes.

Bottom line, although this really didn't remove my personal information or credit card data from their systems it does offer me piece of mind every time I open my mail box, and YES it appears to have worked, won't miss them for a moment.

Just hate it when they won't listen or respond properly to a clients request, how about YOU?

There's an unsubscribe link at the bottom of almost all of these emails, just do that, it works 95% of the time....obviously be mindful of phishing when doing it, but any legit business it's a requirement to have an unsub link.

@SomeGuy yes @Dusty is well aware of unsubscribe buttons that was my first choice to stop them from sending sales email.

Requesting business to stop sending e-mail's won't delete one's particulars or credit card data from their computer systems.

Never has never will.

Followed by polite e-mail's to get them to STOP, then followed by phone calls to no end. Like farting against the wind.

When business refuse to staff their delete me from your computer files with competent people then I will take measures that work.

Trust me, you can take that to the bank, not just another pretty face you know. LOL

From CRTC website:

Liability

What are the penalties for committing a violation under CASL?

If you commit a violation under CASL, you may be required to pay an administrative monetary penalty (AMP). The maximum amount of an AMP, per violation, for an individual is $1 million. For a business, it is $10 million. CASL sets out a list of factors considered in determining the AMP’s amount.

Can directors and officers be liable too?

Yes, directors, officers, agents and mandataries of a corporation can be liable, if they directed, authorized, assented to, acquiesced in, or participated in the commission of the violation. Such individuals may be liable for the violation whether or not the corporation is proceeded against.

A letter to the offending company laying out your intent to file a complaint with the CRTC might light a fire under someone's ass.

Oooooo scary ! I'd like to see the stats on successful "convictions ". CRTC is useless in my experience with them.

Find a couple valid emails (the more the better) in the company you are dealing with. Auto-forward all your unwanted email back to those addresses.

Easy Peasy - problem always fixes itself.
