I finally got around to finishing my custom display case that I've been meaning to build for a more professional presentation of the knives and other projects that I intend to sell. The frame I wanted to make more beautiful than the appearance of simple wood stain; so I chose to go for the use of exotic African padauk wood. The color and grain patterns are beautiful on their own; but I chose to fill the grain with black wood filler which adds a additional patern to the wood and stands out with high contrast.

What also stands out is the rich shade of red in the red felt that was added to the backside of the display. Many display cases are much smaller and are used for one item or only a few items. However you could call this more of a cabinet because the items are set on glass shelves within a glass door.
There would be a better way to add legs to the unit while keeping it well portable; but just to keep it simple I chose to make a simple wrought iron stand similar to an easel.
