When I was a youngster, I had the privilege to watch an 'old timer' use an Hardinge HLV-H lathe. He let me use it under supervision, and - WOW.

My memory is fuzzy, but it just seemed... to work... right... in every way. I've kept my eye out for a working one, and 2 have 'gotten away'. I'll likely never own one, but sometimes you trip over things.
