As a favour to members, I obtained a 5 gal US jug of Viper's Venom Cutting Oil. I am making it available in smaller quantities to members.
Vipers Venom is my favorite cutting oil for all ferrous metals by a very wide margin. It is particularly good on Stainless Steel and Chrome Moly. But it is also ejxcellent on all ferrous metals. It can be used in very low quantities because it resists slinging and spreads out on a spinning surface. A few drops will last for 2 or 3 passes.
Viper's Venom is a superior high-sulfur cutting oil that is specifically formulated for cutting all ferrous metals. Ideal for tapping, threading, reaming, and lathe work. Works extremely well when threading or reaming stainless steel due to its extreme lubricity and cooling properties.
Viper's Venom is a stable product. It contains saponifiables to promote adhesion to the work and tools, and to provide oiliness. It is fortified with sulfur and chlorine to reduce metal pick-up, galling, and welding. It has good cooling ability, and it will only cause very slight staining of ferrous metals. It will not cause sticking or gumming. And lastly, it has good resistance to rancidity.
My total delivered cost was $630 Cdn in round numbers.
In portions, that turns out to be:
The three most convenient packaging containers are used Engine Oil Jugs which are typically 5 Litre Jugs, 3.68 L windshield washer jugs, and 1L Oil Bottles.
To save shipping, I could bring what you want to the meetup at the end of April.
Based on my current usage rate, 1 US Gallon will last me the rest of my life.
Altogether, almost all of it is already spoken for. Only 1 Quart still up for grabs. Let me know if you want it and we can work out a suitable delivery. All shipping risks will be on the buyer even if it doesn't arrive.
It looks like I should get another 5 gal pail. But the cost might change significantly if I get dinged for Tarriffs next time. I might wait till that settles out.
Let me know if anyone wants the last quart.
