Tool post identification

I am trying to help a kid refurbishing a no name antique lathe. The tool post it came with doesn't look like the original or it is missing some parts .
The base of the tool post is interesting. The round knurled knob on the left is made to adjust the tool angle. The top of the tool post base has a round dimple hole and a thread in the center.
I searched the web for images of a similar setup to try to replicate the original, but found nothing like it.
Would someone know of a similar setup?
If I can't find the original setup, I will make him a 4 way tool post with a protruding dimple and a center locking screw.

I still have my first lathe which is even older than that. For most of the 30 years I used it, I didn't even know that there were better tool posts out there. In hind sight, I wouldn't have bothered trying to use the standard rocker style. I'd have headed straight off to adapt a modern aloris or 4 way.

I should of mentioned the lathe is about a 5" X 12" . I didn't know they made shaft belt driven mini lathe.
The picture does make it look much bigger. When he first sent me the picture I thought it was at least a 8'' X 24" , it also came with two ceiling mount pulley drive.
If I do make a 4 way, the block will be at most a 1.5" square if we want the tilt feature to be still usable.

@fixerup Hey Super User appears to be an old, outdated lantern style tool post hardly worth replacing missing parts.

I would run with your plan "B" if it were me. (just saying)
