Very cool, looks to be a universal with swivelling table, similar in design to my Harrison but with a different overarm design.
Huh? You must be looking at a different machine, because the one above has no swivelling table.

In the picture above, you can actually see both the X and Y axis dovetails. Same in the close-up in the advert showing the machine Number Plate, you get a real close view of all there is going on between the knee and the table, and none of it remotely looks like a swivel feature.

So, no, not a Universal...

Now I can zoom into the picture yes not a universal for sure. My machine has that feature.

I know they exist thanks to Tony’s site, but I’ve never seen a Tom Senior universal. Did the Major come with that as an option? Or just ELT?

I looked on the lathes.co.uk site and could not find a picture of the M1 with a Universal table, but IIRC, I saw a note that there were 'Universal' M1's. I suspect if they existed, they were not common at all.
Yeah, the only picture of a Universal table was on the Extra Long Table page.

I’ve got a Major that I snuck out of BC a few years back to replace an old worn slightly smaller Vernon. I like having a small horizontal in my home shop in addition to bigger mills. And a 30 taper is so much nicer than B&S 9.

Got to admit I was surprised when the Tom Senior arrived how little thought the maker put into lubrication. While not nearly as worn as my Vernon, the Major had quite a lot of wear on x axis. No idea about this machine’s previous history. Am making amends although not a full one shot as the full rescrape slowly proceeds.
