Standard Modern 11" series 2000 Sault Ste. Marie govdeals auction

Couldn't find the Soo policy but the Halton District School Board policy, for example, has options for disposing of surplus assets. When selling, it directs that 'Surplus Assets' SHALL be sold by auction. Since they were bought with public money it would be a breach of trust to let the asset go for less than fair market value. The HDSB policy references 5 other different policies including 2 related to ethics.

Are games played sometimes? Probably. But it would be taken seriously if discovered.

Craig
But using an auction as a stalking horse to establish that a price is a fair market price not only remains common but is also very ethical.

It is also often far easier for a board to sell a large lot of many machines to a single buyer than to try to sell to a lot of buyers.

The fact that no bidders were willing to pay a minimum $1000 bid suggests that if the Board sells the lot not thru an auction at $1000 per machine that they have indeed gotten a fair market price

It shall remain to be seen if these will be relisted or not.

Now we are talking.
Edit:
Ah yeah... I didn't saw it was a 13h drive....
I also see it work on 208 v ? Would it work if I plug it on a converter ? (220 to 120 ?)

Thanks !

Amazon vfd will get you up and running. Its actually better to get a 3 phase motor these days with the cheap vfds. Plus you get variable speed control and your switching is low voltage so last a lot longer then switching voltage. My experience with phase convertors were in the industrial world and very expensive. The small convertors online look to be more suited for powering European appliances more so then machine equipment.

wire in a 220v plug and run it off a VFD and it will run fine.

with the number of lathes for sale you have a good chance at one for the minimum bid amount. Unless a dealer...

Does anyone know the weight of those ?
I would need to find a service to ship it from there to Quebec, and I think it would be more expensive than the machine itself.

IF I had a float trailer and storage I'd be renting a pick up truck and buying both, flipping the second one to fund the expedition
That's actually pretty smart lol.
As for me, it would have taken me 13h to get there, I would have to find somewhere to sleep and going back the second day.
Private Drivers and services asked too much, it was not worth it for me unfortunatly.

yeah if you dont have a tow vehicle, a brother or friend to share the drive and a gantry crane it is not worth it.

I have all of those things but no space for another lathe or it would be worth it to me to grab one.

So tempting, but no toolholders and tags that say "Take me Away" and "Broken" could make it a pandora's box of a road trip.

What are you looking for Patrick? If I had a good idea I could keep my eyes open for you.

For the guys that are looking for a small basement lathe, *i know a guy* that over the next while will have at least one and possibly 2 SouthBend 9x lathes for sale. Would kick the ass of any offshore 7x or 9x lathe, and can be easily carried down to a basement...
