Shop Floor Brushes?

What kind of brush would you recommend to sweep the shop floor? Please don’t say a Magnetic one, i spend more time cleaning the brush head of chips than it takes me to sweep it, any advice is appreciated. I am using a cheap dollerama nylon type.

You must have the magnetic one that doesn’t release I have both from Princess Auto and the one has a piece you pull up on to release all the chips and like you the dollarama broom.

I just used an old shop vac with the larger hose for the most part in my previous garage, but the floor concrete texture was rough like a sidewalk. The concrete in the new shop is much better and smoother so I'm thinking of having one floor broom dedicated to dealing with metal chips and one for the rest of the shop.

For smooth garage floors you want a flagged broom (bristles designed to split); for textured (swept) surfaces that are rough you want unflagged (bristles stay stiff and don't split). I settled on one of each because large metal chucks don't work with flagged brooms and sharp pieces get stuck. But after grinding you need flagged. I also use a magnetic sweep and a Shop Vac. Different tools for different occasions.

Here's a guide:

Dollar store push broom and big Ridgid shop vac. I do mostly aluminum and stainless, so the mag sweeper is useless.
