  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Yes, I bought some stuff from him (his wife listed it) early to mid pandemic. They had an Okuma LK lathe I would have loved to buy (didn’t have a spare $7k), which was being loaded on a trailer when I got there. Older Yugoslavian guy, a bit stiff at first but warmed up once we got talking, ended up spending 45-60 minutes there, I think. Prices for the material are sky high, unfortunately, and I think he had a few resellers take advantage of him early on, so he’s pretty stubborn about it.

He told me about a setup he had on that remaining lathe for cutting oil grooves inside some sort of 6-8” custom bushing. To my recollection/understanding he drilled into the front face of the headstock and mounted a large disk on a shaft, linked to the gearing of the lathe somehow, with a linkage that pulled the carriage toward the headstock and the pushed it away, as the disc turned, cutting a sort of sine wave inside the bushing. Kind of blew my mind, really ingenious, but part of me was thinking ‘you just drilled through the side of your headstock???’
