Bell Machinery (Vancouver) has a Sheldon mill and SM 1120 lathe they are selling as a combo only. http://www.bellmachineryltd.com/used_home_package.htm
l'm interested in the lathe and am looking to see if anyone is interested in the mill. The pair are on consignment and the owner doesn't want to sell separately yet.
I've talked with Bell and they say the mill runs very nice but the lathe has a really noisy headstock so there is a big risk in the lathe. I don't know the mill and can't find much on it so what it's worth will be up for debate.
If I was on the mainland I'd drop in but it's a $200 trip with ferries and food so unless there is someone really interested in the mill I won't be making the trip.
Of course the other half will want to go shopping so who knows the $200 might grow into, lol.

That is an interesting mill. The browne and sharpe taper is a bit concerning, I have not heard much about them other than an off hand comment from someone on youtube (I think Tubalcain) and in the machinery handbook.

B&S taper will be a bit of an issue - you probably will be best served by simply getting an adapter to ER collet system. Or any other collet system for that matter.

Bell probably checked already, but if one of the gear shift forks is slightly out of adjustment, it allows the gears to rub - making one awful racket. Does not seem to damage anything though. The width of a piece of paper out is enough (~4thou). It can also be OK at first (oil cold) and get noisy as the headstock warms up. I had to adjust both my 1340 and my 1120 shift forks because of the “rattle” as things warmed up.

Tom - ER would be the easiest way for the mill.

Rudy - When I asked Bell if it was gear or bearing noise, their tech had determined it was gear noise. They couldn't tell me if the noise was through out the gear ranges, hi/lo or if the noise was there in neutral. By the way he described the noise I think it was there all the time, hot or cold. The noise could be a simple adjustment or worst case gears.
If it's still there in a couple of weeks I'll see if they'll sell them separately.

Just heard from the dealer, don't know what he got for them but someone bought the set.
So my search for the elusive SM1120 continues, I have done some measuring and could make a SM1334 fit if one of those ever comes available.
