I am wondering if anyone has ventured into this realm? I am interested, but then see Alibre, which states that you can buy a permanent license.. Upon ver2.0, you will be forced to pay again..

Besides that negativity.. I am looking for the positive. The fact that it is not on a cloud is good. Is the product good ?

Hi Matt, can't remotely answer your question. But wanted to say we (I) have missed you!

I'll watch this thread because trying this with fusion 360 sucks x100

Hi @Susquatch , It has been a while.. I am so double tasked now between Metamakers and still working at the Marina.

Recently I got on the board there at the Metamakers. We are going to really turn it around I hope. Most of the old board left and so its all new blood.. We are going to expand the wood working department. They also brought in "Zones" For this I am one of the zone leaders for CNC and metalworking. We will be disposing of pottery, and possibly one other zone..

On this thread topic of Bas relief, I want to try this.. Apparently you can take any 3D stl and turn it into a coin like object..

Another option that may do what you need is CamBam. It runs locally (i.e., NOT cloud based) and uses a permanent license. I think the recently added MOP imports at least STL files.

Unfortunately, their website seems to be unavailable right now. Hopefully it isn't a long-term issue ... I've used it for years and it has done everything I wanted out of my router. I even used it to carve a few lithophane panels out of "corian" with tiny ball nose cutters.

Hopefully this option hasn't met its demise.

BTW - I use Alibre Atom 3D and it has been very useful for me and my requirements. Always been a good outfit to deal with but then I'm not asking a lot.
