Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. The main difference in off shore cheap tool post & holders vs. Aloris and similar is the fit. Aloris stuff fits very nicely - there is not much clearance. The off shore stuff not so much.
I am not sure how that transfers exactly to repeatability but it does transfer to clamping and change of the tool height from clamped vs. unclamped position as well as more movement from the chuck.
One would need to do a study on repeatability of say Aloris vs. China. Through differences her I would guess would only play a role in small stock work, say under 3/4".
Other differences would include hardness of material used and quality of set screws.

FWIW, I hate making mistakes like that, but I accept that I am human and I try to fess up asap.
Amazing to find someone else using either of those tools, and even more amazing to find someone else using both!
