Oliver S-4 Die Filer

New addition to my work shop. A pristine die filer, likely original paint. Sadly Oliver of Adrian no longer seem to reply to phone or email so can't find out the vintage. But this model has beena dvertised since the 1940's I think.
Came with a good selection of short files (cut 2) and 8" ones (cut 00, 0, and 2) mostly Nicholson brand.

@Lucky7 is providing me with some photos of the other over arm, that has a roller to support the file.
This particular model can handle files of almost any length, piercing saw plabes, hack saw blades, stones and cloth on a backing for sanding. So far I have found a use for it almost every day that I am in the shop.

Super cool.

Gerrit, I think we crossed wires in our messages. You had asked about a filing rest. I thought that’s what I have, but maybe it’s just the standard overarm? Anyhoo, I regularly use mine for filing, and love it. Haven’t used it yet for sawing. Good see another person extolling its use!

Also have the larger Oliver die filer in my long term rebuilding line up. Won’t get to it this decade…

I was hoping for details on this optional item: This provides a roller rest for the file as well as a hold down. A bit quiker to deal with when working on cavities/holes etc. It is not shown in the manual that I have (which does have a great technical drawing of the other arm.)

It is now on a rolling stand, at sitting height. The days of standing at a machine for an hour are long gone for me.
