Hi,

I actually registered for the forum a couple years ago, but just getting around to doing some metal work on my lathe; a Myford Super 7. I’ve mostly been doing some musical instrument refurbishment & turning/milling with it, slowly building some competency with the machine, and hope to do some more small jobs. Current projects on the go/back burner include a ‘68 Land Rover, a couple of British bikes, and a ‘58 Unimog.
I had recently missed the Airdrie coffee meetup; but did get to visit with Don, and see his shop-lucky to have people like that in the community! I’m looking forward to meeting some of the other fellas in the Airdrie/ Calgary area.
Also, i’m in no rush, but am keeping my eye out for a small-ish vertical knee mill (ideally); possibly a Clausing, Rockwell, Bridgeport Series 1, etc-I do like the older iron.
Anyways, I look forward to learning, and making some connections through the forum-Thanks!

Welcome from Lillooet BC. Pictures..... We sure do like pictures..... A Unimog has always intrigued me, I just haven't crossed paths with one yet. And with my backlog of projects, I kinda hope I don't. ;)

Great to see the replies. I’m sure I’m not alone, but I’ve accumulated enough projects to keep me busy through retirement; only I’m not retired yet!
The Unimog will be a fun project; I’m hoping to get to the engine transplant next spring (OM617a)

Welcome from Niagara Falls.
The Unimog looks like you could haul across Canada camping at any time! Nice unit. There is one close to here in St. Catharines.

Welcome from Sherwood Park Alberta. What type of musical instruments do you work with? Many years ago I made wooden recorders and have a machine I made for cutting windways and I would like to find someone interested in the tool.

In 1970 I drove a Unimog quite a bit while working u/g. Unimogs had a clean (comparatively) diesel, which was ideal for u/g. It had a short wheelbase. big tires and was nearly unstoppable.
Welcome to the Forum from a fellow S7 owner.

Ian,

I play a few different kinds of Scottish & Irish bagpipes; no wind ways to cut-just reeds to forever be dealing with.
