  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

I have a three year old Altendorf edgebander at work. The hex drive that runs the glue pot wore out. I couldn’t wait for parts from Germany. So I made my own.
I took some 1” diameter brass rod and made 19mm hex with a rotary table on the mill, drilled and reamed a 12 mm hole. Then made a 3mm key way using the cross slide on my lathe as a shaper
Worn part is on the left in the picture. I believe it wasn’t inserted right from day one. Works better than it ever has.Saved an $800 tech visit and not sure what the part would’ve cost.plus downtime.

Made a gear shift knob for an old truck a while back on my boring mill.I didn’t get a picture after I parted it off and drilled and tapped the hole.
