Anyone here with experience with old LFA keyless chucks? Ran across this beauty, probably 50 years old, 5 lbs of solid steel. But jammed. Any idea how to pull it apart for cleaning/repair?

Seems to be a collar at the top of the chuck, but it won’t unscrew with a reasonable amount of force and I don’t want to break it.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Since it is locked up in the open position, you know it most likely didn't lock up from abuse. It's prolly just hardened grease or oil varnish.

Not knowing any more about it than you do, if it were mine, I'd soak it in varsol for a few days, blow all that crap out, soak it again, then I'd make sure I knew which way to turn it so the jaws closed, and then I'd make a strap clamp for both OD's put a vice on the bottom one (maybe also pickup the two pin recesses) and use a small hammer on the big sleeve clamp to try and move the big collar with multiple small hits. I'd fully expect to win.
