  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! So the front slotted shaft. Doesn't look like a South Bend type slotted lead screw. There's a rack under the ways. Think maybe someone replaced the original lead screw with a slotted shaft?

Or maybe the lead screw used to be mounted in the two bearing holders above that.

Yeah, the lead screw is missing from the upper bearings, but I'm guessing it's within 5 feet of the machine!

If I had the space and didn't have 42 other projects... I'd buy it, install a ball screw + AC Servo, motorize the cross slide and put an AC servo on the spindle. At this point either my ELS or CNC using a Raspberry Pi4 with LinuxCNC. Total cost would be $1500 and the labour.
 
The guy is pricing it quite reasonably. the chuck is worth 100 bucks alone. No road trip for me, however.
