Thread to talk about inserts, types and codes, where to buy, how to use.

I've been trying to understand insert types so I can order some for my CHEAP busy bee tool holders. BB wants something like $10 per insert. Looking around for help understanding insert types - e.g. what doesTCMT32.51LX A25Z mean ? - I've found this site to be really helpful:

http://www.carbidedepot.com/resources.aspx - definitions for inserts, boring bars, toolholders
http://www.carbidedepot.com/formulas-insert-d.htm

Also the sales part of the site has really good pictures and definitions of the geometry on the insert type you are looking at. e.g.:
http://www.carbidedepot.com/TCMT3251LX-A25Z-P254410.aspx

I'm then looking to Aliexpress to source the inserts, ten inserts for $5? am I reading that right? It's more like $50 at accusize:

I used HSS for many years, and am much more recent to this carbide thing... There are a zillion videos on carbide tooling, much of which is repetitive - but doesn't answer much of the fundamental need: "where to start?"

I wish I had seen 'this old tony' on youtube before I spent a lot of money His video on where to start on carbide is much better than most. it ca be seen at :
