I work on a lot of REALLY big stuff, but that thing, as well as the 55" one posted earlier, are both just container ship anchors. I wonder if a scrap yard would even be interested.... How would they get it in the chopper?

Torch it, or smash it with a demo spike, sad as these still do have use. Like you said they cut it down to put it in the grinder.

One rig I did service on in Texas was down the way from a yard and they tore an old versatile tractor to pieces with a demo spike in the end of their track hoe. Then torched the pieces to fit in their bin. One big difference between Canada and the US when it comes to drilling. In the US states like Texas they drill almost everywhere. Worked on rigs that were drilling in a Walmart parking lot, the Dallas/Fortworth airport, corner end of a neighborhood. If they can fit a rig and there is nothing under the ground that they could hit, they can basically drill there.
