How to lock lathe spindle to tighten ER40 collect chuck

I've fired a punt gun, on the Girounde in France ! Their not as loud as you might think, but you can knobble a small group of duck at one go. Its supported against the recoil by the punt. It really depends upon what you put in them to fire, small bits of metal, small stones, gravel etc are used. Actually not much different from a big shotgun.
 
Just to add...they were owned & used by commercial hunters that made their living from supplying meat to urban communities in volume, their size greatly increased the kill volume & distance it could be done.
