Gotta Love the Dump

Found this little fellow this morning.
His only sin seems to have been the mortal one of having a cord, because he chugs away at 2000 impacts per minute and about 260 pd/ft (or ft/pd, of fig/newtons, or whatever).
Timely, too, as I have new tires to install on my trailer.

Then there's the can't figure it out crowd. 20+ years ago I fished a Shindaiwa electric chainsaw out of a scrap metal bin. Nothing wrong with it except they probably couldn't figure out to press the safety when trying to pull the trigger, still running today. Likewise a nice Makita/Dolmar electric last year: if you use too light an extension cord the saw won't run. Great saw, very happy with it for the $10 or so I paid the scrap man.

Yes we are a very wasteful society, often what I see at the dump makes me shake my head. Often I think this is deliberate, you cannot afford the repair person to fix it, even if you could get a part. And the “well maybe I could fix that myself” mentally is often gone and or discouraged in hand with “I don’t have time” but need to watch tv, play on the phone, watch some idiotic fools on u-tube and such “entertain us” with total sh#$&.
Don’t get me wrong, there is some useful info to be seen in some of it, ways of doing things, accomplishments and such.
But sometimes sitting, watching just gives us a fat as$, and then you pay to “remove it” at the gym which is in hand with some other postings.
Wow, looks like a rant, I think I better get going for the day, my as$ is starting to get bigger, just sitting here.

My wifes cousin wears a blue T shirt and works making hydraulic hoses for a royal family. I won't mention Daves name as I wouldn't want to embarrass him. He knew I was on the lookout for a new, long hose for my pressure washer. They had sold just such hose with a new pressure washer to guy who then returned it. They had set it all up for him but when he first tried to take the hose off for draining and storage he couldn't unlock the quick connect. He tried, they tried, damn that Chineesium. They solved the problem by unscrewing the quick connect from the machine, still on the hose, and replacing it all.
So the mystery employee dropped it off here on his way home. He handed it to me as he explained the issue and started saying how he thought I might be able to save it by cutting off the quick connect, but before he could finish his suggestion I disconnected the quick connect, held it up and asked "this one ?". Needless to say, the look on his face was priceless. I explained to him that with that style of connector you have to push the hose in to be able to release the lock ring. Luckily for me the paperwork was done already and the embarrassment factor would be too high, so I got to keep it.
