I've posted before the merits of new and old purchase.

This falls into for that price its worth the gamble if you are willing to put a little effort in to it.

Here is an example of a "little" bit of work, this one might be in better shape than the one he restored but what an amazing job restoring it.

Especially given he says "it can be used as a wood lathe ===> it must have most (or maybe all) gears working for wood turning!
