Garbage dumping

Martin w

Super User
So I live on a dead end road between two roads a kilometre apart We have always had a problem with people dumping. I have been here 39 years and cleaned up shingles, garbage bags of dirty diapers, you name it. A couple weeks a go someone dumped a pool liner and white plastic tarp. Being the Good Samaritan I take my Gator and go get it to put in my dumpster. Someone wrapped up deer parts in these plastic liners. WTF! Who does this? Can’t you just take the leftovers back to where you shot the deer and let the coyotes deal with it. Why wrap it it up in your kids pool. Do you have any idea how heavy a pool liner is, it was all I could do to get it up in my Gator and I had to use a forklift to put it in my dumpster. That was after I removed the deer parts for the coyotes. Now the side of my dumpster is covered in blood and fur.
I don’t even know anymore!!!
Sorry for the rant. I can’t be the only one who has to deal with low life’s

Same MO here Martin. House is 1/3 of the way between concessions a mile apart. No deer guts yet though.

My lane splits two farm fields No place to put a trail cam unless they come up all the way to the house.

Always picking up beer bottles, cigarette boxes, pop cans, fast food bags, compost piles, raked leaves, and of course released racoons, cats, and possums.

Same here. Occasionally, I call the town administration to deal with a particularly nasty lump of garbage, and they have always been helpful.

Got you all beat. We're at the end of a cul-de-sac on a pan handle acerage. Nine hundred feet of driveway and no one in sight. We started to get a little p/o'd because some ahole dog walker was letting their dog crap in the end of our driveway and we were constantly having to clean up or our tires would fling it all over the truck.

Finally caught the dog in the act, it was the neighbors dog from a couple of doors down. I confronted the neighbor and asked her to control her dog. She just had a giggling fit and said she had trained him to do that so she wouldn't have to scoop. I didn't see it as being as hilarious as she did.

Same thing happens here except it isn't dogs. It's racoon, coyotes, possum, and fox. And it's not just at the end, it's all the way down a half km of driveway. I find if I drive fast enough, it squirts out into the fields and I don't have to clean anything.

Just about every year we’ve had a bear make its way down the road we live on. It leaves a deposit smack-dab centre on every driveway. It must save up for a week in advance, even considering there are some enormous black bears in the area.
Usually happens once a year when the fruit trees are full.
Other than that, there’s always a steady stream of beer cans, McDonalds wrappers, and various marijuana packages. Cause for pause when walking down the shoulder…

My neighbour had the same issue so she gathered up the dog crap for two blocks around and unceremoniously dumped it with great force onto buddies porch. No problems since then.
I'm liking your neighbour already! Pretty much what I'd do, except I'd put it in a brown paper bag on the doorstep, ignite it & ring the doorbell...

Not just a rural problem. Vancouver has a recycling depot in an industrial area in South Vancouver, Kent Ave, just off the Fraser River. I drive along Kent a couple times a week. On any given day, there might be two or three tractor-trailer loads of garbage dumped along Kent. Furniture, tvs, bags of garbage, tires, you name it. Cost the city a few hundred thousand dollars a year to pick up all the crap that shows up, and my guess is most of it comes from people that just can’t be bothered to wait in line at the recycling depot.

All sad testimony to decrepit morals of all too many bipdeds. I can't imagine dumping a load of garbage on the side the road, what low lifes. I wonder if making the dump free would help, or better garbage pickup?

I think part of the problem here is, they went to two-week garbage collection. So, if you miss it. Now you have 4 bags of garbage. People are lazy and won't go to the corner store to get a sticker to put on so they can put 4 bags out. No that's not the problem people still dumped when garbage collection was every week...

Strategically placed game cams for pictures of fools and their license plates.
On the back of my property, we have had 360-degree cameras installed. I have a pipeline right of way and talked them into installing surveillance. I do have trail cams and such on the main road but we get a lot of traffic trying to view the Welland Canal. That's another beef , why do people not want to turn around in a driveway? They will back right down in the Rhubarb and leave ruts or use my front grass to turn around and leave ruts. Man, I'm starting to become a grumpy old guy!

I deal with the same thing at least a couple times a year. I live at a dead end although it turns into a seasonal 1km unassumed road that is passable (sometimes) through to another road but its pretty much a dead end to most people. People dump stuff out here all the time. I did catch some in action once, and was able to convince them that loading their garbage back into their vehicle was probably in their best interest at the time.... Tracked some back to it's owner another time and convinced them either they came and got it, or a neighbor and I were going to come deliver it back to them.....

Sometimes the town will come out and clean it up, most times not. There is a mattress down there right now, but on the neighbors side past my property line. Been there for months. There is a lot less since one of the local shitbag families moved away......strange coincidence?........(less vehicles broken into or stolen too.....)

It's not just garbage. Cats, Dogs, Roosters.....The last one unexpected. We managed to get one, but the rest probably became coyote food. We took in one of the cats too, but all the Dogs (3), went to a shelter unfortunately :(.

I used to have game cams out, but it's honestly not worth the effort to constantly replace batteries and check cards etc. If my wifi reached down there I'd setup permanent cameras, but i'd mostly just catch kids smoking dope, or teenagers "parking". I interrupted a couple one time mid business givn'r the beans out the back door when I came through with a quick honk and a wave lol. Another french family on a road trip setup a tent with a campfire in the middle of the road and everything . Never a dull moment out here.....

Had some piss-heads plant some grass in the middle of my back roundup ready cornfield 10 years ago or so. Spotted it with my drone. Just coincidentally, I had a bad case of velvet leaf pop up that I had to kill before it went to seed. Amazing what a good dose of glyphosate and 2-4D will do to most "weeds"........ Smells downright horrible too. Never had that problem again.

That is crazy. My friend looks after the cemetery at the bottom of the road. Constant dumping, and it gets worse people using it at night for adult activities leaving debris on the ground. He has chased some out of the cemetery without pants on. There are camera but the cops take a report and that’s it.

I live out near the former beare landfill site, the roads around the dump were a common dumping ground.

So, who would drive out of their way, and almost to the landfill only to dump trash close to it? Cheap people?

When the dump closed, the illegal nearby dumping went up dramatically... why? Lazy people?

The fines for illegal dumping are sure no deterrent

One time I reported something online apparently the department I contacted wasn’t the reporting department and they said they won’t forward the message!
