  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

Following up on my comments about EZ-CAM. I was stuck on a step in the process so I reached out on the EZ-CAM chatbot. Got a fellow named Chris. I explained my problem. He asked me to send him the solid model of the part I was working on so he could make a video walking me through the process.
Ten minutes later I get an email with a screencast video link to him waking through setting up the CAM for the part I sent him.
I have never had that kind of service!

Sold EZ-Cam for a while back in the day and my main contact was Christopher Lalashius, guess we're talking about the same guy. Always was helpful and great to work with. :)

Looks to be a similar process to MecSoft AlibreCAM (VisualCAM) other than it doesn't have the same look and feel as AlibreCAD. More like they were given the file format of AlibreCAD and imported that so they could identify the information of the part.

I wish I liked EZCAM but I just could not wrap my head around it. And the bundled price was just completely ridiculous (IMHO)

Totally agree. Here's V28 which surprisingly still works with the AlibreCAM setup information. However when I tried a different part I got a crash message that there was some sort of unresolved issue.

BTW. You can download and play with it. The trial version I think even lets you save the G-Code and file information. Once the trial is over you can still play with it but it won't save your CAM info or the G-Code.
It can import the STEP files from Alibre.

Interesting, I didn't know they'd released a new version. That must have happened in the last week or so.

I'm still using V25. Works best with AlibreCAM. The problem is once I save with say V27 or V28 it's no longer readable by V25 and they refuse to add a Save As Version feature. So I have V28 so I can read your AlibreATOM files.
