  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

North America Does anyone have a good source for bulk drill bits?

I have a few sets of letter and number drills, and each is missing a bit or two. I have a cabinet that is nearly empty...

Can you see where I'm going? I want to fill the cabinet with multiples of number, letter and wire gauge sizes drills. I wish to find a seller of decent quality bulk sets where you get 10 of each of the smaller sizes and 5 of the larger sizes, more is fine. less sucks.

Most of the machining suppliers like KBC, Travers, Sowa... sell in whatever quantity of single sizes you need. That's how shops typically buy them. In fact its the onsey-twoseys that drive them nuts & costs you more on min $ order & shipping. The price of good name stuff is going nutty, but you did say number/letter so you are primarily stuck with N-Am suppliers. But I have bought very nice quality metric drills form different suppliers including <gasp> AliExpress in HSS & carbide for a lot less. I actually try to design in metric now where possible just because its the exact same deal with fasteners.

If you ever come to Niagara Falls. Bickles Hardware on Mainstreet. They have Lista cabinets in rows. You can buy any drill size. Any hole saw, annular cutter, any tool, safety supply. Nuts , bolts, all thread
In the basement if you needed one 1" x 8" long grade 8 bolt, they would have that too. Awesome place good people, been there forever. You can't miss it driving by. They have a large full size iron worker sculpture on the roof with guys sitting on an I beam with a gantry crane.

Varco - local to me in Chatham. Gotta be one in TO. Sells Dormer. Almost always in volume stock. I usually buy two of whatever I need. Not cheap. But worth every penny.

I use # 21 and #29 drill bits fairly frequently, ones I had were getting kind of long in the tooth and too small for me to re-sharpen. Recently bought 12 packs of both in cobalt from Amazon. About $19 and $24 respectively, delivered to my door.
