Reverse lights were not required by law until the 1960s apparently, so naturally our 36 did not have any. Backing up at night was an interesting adventure! So in looking into adding reverse lights, I decided to use the Neutral switch that is on the TorqueFlight 904 AT that had been installed during the “restoration” nearly 40 years ago. It is a simple switch that relays power from the fuse block to the reverse lights. I ordered a vintage looking bumper light and made a bracket using a right angle shelf bracket and then made up a sleeve to protect the wire once it leaves the wiring bundle at the tail light area.
Used a brass piece, bored and threaded to match the 10x1.25 mounting tube that the wire passes through. Cut the hex using my Palmgren vise in place of the QCTP. Math was involved at that point. Counterbored the other end to give a tight fit on a piece of fuel line. There is a ring on the inside of the counterbore to hold the line in place.
I think it looks pretty good, compared to a bare wire flapping in the breeze.
