CX706 sale price?

slow-poke

Assuming I'm thrilled with my SM Utilathe I will sell my BB CX706 (Purchased new about 4 years ago) I'm curious what the braintrust thinks is a reasonable asking price. I can sell it in any of the following configurations:
1) Stock as purchased $?
2) With an ELS system add $?
3) With DRO on Z and X add $?
4) With QCTP add$?
5) Full CNC; Touchscreen, servos, MPGs for manual operation and all of the above add $?

Comes with fortified work bench with 2 drawers and shelves regardless of configuration.
Comes with some tooling TBD
Best guesses please?

First question for me would be what add-ons from the CX can be applied to the SM?

Most of them, however it was a fair bit of work to fit everything to the CX, now that it's done kinda a shame to undo it all. My souped up round column mill sold quickly because of the CNC conversion

Boy it's hard to say....I'm often surprised by selling prices now....(as in I think they are good from a sellers point). Unlike many things (think autos and rvs) our machinery selling price gets ascertained in part by replacment cost, and retail costs have increased substantially.
When I sell something I first consider what I paid for it, then try to ascertain a value I derived from owning and using it. Those two things will be heavily weighed into the selling price. The retail price of my small lathe has more than doubled in 10 years so I think replacement cost would also be a significant factor. All accessories I'd be very happy to get 60% of original cost. But ultimately there are ONLY 2 opinions that matter on the final price and that is YOURS and the BUYER. If those two people are happy it doesn't matter what the market is.
I imagine your lathe and accessories will be any easy sell and I'm going to guess you can extract "good" money from the market.

It will likely come down to what the buyer wants. When I sold my highly souped up round column mill the buyer appreciated all the upgrades and was willing to not only pay the full asking price but to let me continue to use it for three months while I made parts to add CNC capability to my new knee mill. His main concern was that he was locked into the sale, to that end he gave me a $1k deposit cash and said I don't need a receipt I just want the mill.

I will be watching this one, good reference point
The one you referenced is shows a photo of a BB CX706. The asking price of $3200 to me seems high as a new one is according to the BB website is $3399. When you add sales tax the cost would be $3840.87. To me there isn't seem much enticement to purchase that particular one. To me the machine in the advert would be worth between $2380 to $2700 max.

I am basing my thoughts on the value of what used industrial sewing machines command. In that interest a machine owned by a hobbyist that has never been used in a commercial environment will command between 70 to 80 percent in pristine condition of the list price, taxes excluded, of a new machine of the same model. As the condition drops or the more electronic features it has so does the price.

Your assessment makes sense to me. This particular CX does come with some tooling so that should help.

Before I purchased my CX706 I read every comment I could find in a variety of forums and it seemed like some people got a bad one and that coupled with the poor after sales service made for a few very unhappy campers. However most new owners were generally pleased, although most commented that a good inspection, cleaning and adjusting was required.

My conclusion was if I could find a used one that was already proven for a bit less than new price it was probably better the bet especially if it came with tooling. In the end nothing used was available so when a sale came up I purchased. I found one issue with the compound screw and BB provided a new one under warranty.

When I decide to sell my round column mill I posted a similar thread to get thoughts on pricing IIRC the consensus was $2500. However it had DROs and full CNC and a bunch of other upgrades and sold for $3500 in days.

So who knows?
