When I saw yours, it was a particularly nice implementation (though I didn't get a chance to crank it ;-) ). Can you share a photo or two of your chain tightener setup?
If someone is planning on doing this mod, might want to consider using a small motor instead, would be a bit simpler and more convenient. I used a $13 surplus PA motor. Might work for you. I think PA still have these available, because I ordered a backup.
Here is a couple of pictures. The chain tightener wheel is a piece of UHMW and I put a couple of small ball bearings in to make it run smoothly. It really makes life easier to be able to crank from much lower down.
I started out with the chain-operated lift setup, but lucked out and found a 1/6hp worm gear motor. A bracket, a couple of lovejoy couplings, slight modifications to the z-axis leadscrew. The red button lowers, the green button lifts. I can loosen the lovejoy couplings and use the manual handwheel, but I haven’t done it in at least a couple of years.
If anyone is interested I can go into more detail.
A company called Priest Tools makes a power lift for the Grizzly G0704/0758 mills that will likely fit, but I didn’t like the open power supply and the gear motor, so I did my own.
