Well, sort of expensive - if you get US made and new. Used not so much & you can get carbide as well.

For AL, if you have router bits around the wood stuff works. For most things AL (in soft grades) can be treated as a gummy hard wood.

Funny this was mentioned . These showed up last week , but I'll hold onto the CR endmills just in case .

Nice, I've been wondering about using the wood bits on steel.
What rpm and doc are you using?

The nicest thing about using router bits is that you don’t need to calculate (guess) about the X-Y location of the but: the bearing takes care of that.
Yep, I took the bearing off, but all of the bits are exactly 1/2" diameter at the inside of the radius. Makes positioning easy.

That's awesome, I have a big crappy tire master pack in the garage hmmm...
