I was interesred in the mill too. Stopped by at 11am and it most of yhr good stuff including the lathe and mill were gone. Lathe was listed go $1600 and mill $200. Really wish I planned my day better...
I showed up around 10:15 and there was a looooong lineup to the garage, so I promptly turned and left lol.

Wow! That's what I hope my estate sale will look like.......

Edit based on @phaxtris's comments in the next post.

I want the long line-up, but I also want good honest people running it, equitable pricing, and a fair process.

Might be too much to ask.

i had 2 friends/co-workers go to this, they had advance notice, like 2 weeks, said they would go and get the mill, lathe, etc ahead of time, they were given the run around but still promised the items were held for them

come today, they went, were 2nd/3rd in line to go in, first person went in a took the mill, lathe & compressor right off the hop, that person had camped out from the night prior with one of his buddy's who was 4th in line.

something fishy went on IMO, when i was told of these items i thought it was just a sweetheart deal because he knew the family, but now im thinking that who ever priced the items and ran the sale was brought in, and possibly pulled one over on the family, what professional auction/evaluation company would price that lathe and mill where they did ? a quick 5 minute search would have revealed the value of many of those items to be much higher than priced

They did end up walking away with the tig welder, hydraulic press, drill press and some other tooling, at least i can promise those items wont end up on marketplace

I asked if they got the name, they did not, they asked if they would see the items on marketplace in a week and got kind of a grumble, sounds like our favorite flipper chris wood (i think thats what his name is)

Definitely not right. The sellers took a serious hit there. The lathe would still have have been a steal at twice that price, and the mill for $200??? Are you sure they didn’t miss a zero?

If it’s c wood that’s greasy. We have to boycott that guy.

The lathe at 3600 would have been great. The mill at 2000 also would have been good for around here. 3000 even.

I've gotten burned with estate sales like this before. Organized but disorganized. Preferential/secretive treatment.
Nowadays, if I get a whiff of that scenario, I leave quickly. Too much time wasting.
It might sound strange, but I find auctions (now that they're all online) to be much more fair.

yea, here are a few of the texts, you can see, 2 weeks ago, i thought it was 2000$ as well, i didnt know until i saw him today that it was actually 200, at that point i literally said "WTF somethings up with that"

so many things wrong with what ever happened in this deal, i thought this was a done deal and just needed to be picked up, i came to find out today he had been given the run around for the last 2 weeks about picking up/paying, i thought it was strange when i saw this thread yesterday "wow thats really wierd, that looks like the same equipment Kyle sent me pics of", i saw him and the other guy today and started to get a bit of the story "wait....is this that estate sale in thorncliff"......then i got the earful, hes quite upset obviously

That’s greasy. I did not know estate sales were scummy like that.

The widow/family should be sitting on another couple grand, and that still would have been a good deal for the buyer.
