I have the 4" version of that. Took the rotating base off right away to get more Z distance. Never have put it back on. Don't remember what I paid. Nice vise otherwise.

I had the same vice. After machining both side of the rotating base and the bottom of the vice itself it worked okay.
I found it too big for most of what I did so I sold mine for $50.

I bought a 4" version for a drill press vice, it was too big. After I bought a 6" shaper I thought to use it there. It took a fair bit of work on my Delta Toolmaker surface grinder to make it half-ass useful.
