Busy Bee Tools selling Accusize products

I got an email from Busy Bee Tools today and was looking at tooling when I realized it was branded Accusize and said it was Accusize in the description. Correct me if I am wrong but busy be just imports tools from china and sells them and so does Accusize? So why is one importer selling tools brought in and branded by another importer? Aren't they in competition we each other?

Accusize is a more active importer than BB and it is very likely that BB is buying accusize at wholesale prices direct from accusize.

frankly BB sucks as a direct importer and appear to be realizing that and slowly morphing into more of a retailer that is less involved in importing directly from china.

At least that is my impression of the changes over the last few years...

Good to know. It's been a long time since I have bought anything from busy bee. Last time I dealt with them I kept getting the run around on when things would be back in stock. Seems like they were always waiting for more stock to come in and didn't have the items they had on sale.

Oh if you're buying accusize tools, if you buy direct you can get your member's discount.

I had a long discussion with the new manager at BB. She is determined to turn it into a metalworking store, and I see all the sales now are to blow out the woodworking stock. The owners are still out celebrating Diwali and haven't time to deal with boring things like restocking.

on average is it cheaper to buy direct and get the members discount and pay for shipping or is it cheaper to buy from them on amazon with free shipping?

That depends on how much you are buying. If you buy enough product, the discount exceeds the shipping and its best to buy direct. Otherwise, Amazon Prime is less expensive.

That said, Accusize is working on free shipping for us. When that day arrives, it will be better to go direct.

I would love to say that I support small businesses even if it cost more but sadly price usually wins out and the biggest thing that can drive up an overall price is shipping. I can't imagine it is easy for small companies to be able to do free shipping without loosing money but it definitely brings in customers. If amazon didn't have free shipping I probably would never buy from them instead of usually buying from them. I really hope my rambling makes some kind of sense

I think it does. There are a few other things to understand though.

Accusize provides free shipping plus a fee to Amazon. So it's not so big a leap to do it for us. But they are a business like any other trying to maximize profits. If the sales increase to us doesn't cover the lost profit, they won't do it. They certainly won't do it just to be nice.

That said, like you, I do like to support Canadian businesses. They contribute to our economy, to our standard of living, and they employ other Canadians. To the extent that they source their products off shire, the reduce their contributions, but not by as much as we do collectively when we buy directly from offshore. I don't blame others when they do that. Perhaps if our government did more to attract and keep a strong manufacturing base it wouldn't have to be like that and we would have more jobs to show for it.
