  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. Boxford metal lathe CA$700

Ages ago I bid on a Boxford on BC Auction. It was located in Comox. I wonder if this is the same machine.
Looks like a good deal.
 
Spindle lock handle missing, it may be there somewhere but could have something to do with the bull gear issue.

SOLD, but not to me. I sort of feel like I may have dodged a bullet with this one. If you can strip the back gear and the "spindle stop" handle is missing, what else is beat?.

Been away for a few days. Totally missed this one.

And like someone said, you gotta wonder what else is wrong when the back gear is stripped and other parts are broken.

If I had another project I wouldn't be able to get into my shop area. ON the upside, I have actually started working (slowly) on the 1440 kit. The ways cleaned up really nicely! Bodes well for the rest of the machine. Hope to get lots done in the next couple of months. Grabbing a new to me parts washer that will help the process along. That and mixing a 5 gallon pail of that citric acid rust remover.
 
I have a 10” VSL model of boxfords, and I have had several 9” south ends and one 10k Southbend. The Boxford is a higher quality lathe than the Southbend s.
