  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

Some how I ended up with two copies of this book. If anyone out there would like a copy you can have it for the cost of postage.

It's a decent book for a beginner to pickup. I'd rate him right up there with Harrold Hall.

These are the chapters.

1. The Lathe Explained
2. Choosing a Machine
3. Power Supplies
4. Cutting Tools
5. Work Holding - Chucks
6. Other Work Holding Methods - The Faceplate
7. Tool Holding
8. Centers
9. General Machining Operations
10. Parting Off
11. Hole Boring
12. Threading
13. Taper Turning
14. Measurements and Control Systems
15. Misc Operations 1
16. Misc Operations 2

Actually I'm going to offer it to @Chicken lights . I owe him big time and he is a first time lathe operator. Should have thought of that before, Me Bad. If he declines it will be available again.
