Automatic holder on CNC lathe.

Zoom to about 5:00 minute mark.

In this video you can see a CNC lathe making some pretty big threads. It has an interesting automatic multi tool holder. There seems to be some high speed tool retraction mechanism which seems air powered or something judging by the clunking noise it's making. I'm wondering if this lathe has been retrofitted from manual to CNC?

I wonder if something like this tool holder could be added to a manual lathe?

My home brew CNC mill has turned out pretty good ...

To me it sounds like a ballscrew moving.. I think the retract is just a normal x retract. I think the fancy tool holder you're looking at just turret.

I love this video that part is pretty intense. There is allot of complications in shaping that big hook.

Also many cnc lathes from aisia and poland are built on a flat bed platform so i do not think this huge lathe is a cnc retrofit but it could be.
