Hello! I'm located in Red Deer Alberta. I have a long history in the automotive field being a Journeyman Mechanic, Journeyman Partsman & also a B.Ed. degree in which I taught mechanics, welding, & woodwork (the last 2 to a lesser degree) for 20 years or so. I also had a performance & automotive machine shop in southern Alberta for many years before I went into teaching. I've been retired for over10 years now & have yet to be bored! I have an11"x36" lathe, Busy Bee Knee mill, bandsaw, welder, etc., etc. I've been a member of the Home Shop Machinist forum for many years which I enjoy. I really enjoy working in my very modest shop and have completed many & various projects the most recent of which is a 2"x72" belt grinder. My boys also keep me busy from time to time with repair to their vehicles and other projects. I'm really looking forward to the exciting content here on this forum.

Welcome to the Forum - enjoy the ride. Great group.
You mentioned your belt grinder. I have been thinking about getting one. The King Canada 2x42" looks good, but I'd like to see your 2x72" project. It sounds interesting. Do you have some pictures?

Thanks for the warm welcome I really appreciate it. I see interest in the 2"x72" belt grinder build I did and will put more detail in a later post & after I figure out how to post pictures. I'm not doing much in the shop right now but will get to it. If anyone has any specific questions about it &/or can't wait then just give me a shout. I did quite a lot of research into building one. At first it was just curiosity, then it got serious enough to proceed. I did learn quite a bit of some in's & out's & more than happy to share with some advice. Thanks again all!

That would be appreciated and interesting even to members who don't intend to build one. So start with some pictures and a description when you get around to it. Questions are sure to follow.

PS1: One of the better YouTubers, Clough42, did a detailed vid of his 2x72 grinder build - see it here:
PS2: There was a thread somewhere about posting pictures. Maybe someone ( @Susquatch ) could find it and post a link for you. I find it easiest to take the photo on my iPhone, compose the post on my iPhone and then click on "attach files" to select the photo.

This is a good group
<snort> Don't believe it for a moment.

These <spit> enablers will tease, cajole, coerce & otherwise manipulate you into spending money you don't have, frittering away time you can't afford to give & generally causing grief & stress in your life. They'll also try to drive a wedge between you & your significant other, the advice dispensed is often of questionable quality & their ability to stray off topic is renowned.

Beware the Member Spotted Deals area, there's a dirtbag there who posts enticing ads on nearly a daily basis.

;)

Congratulations you have reached the next level by including the “ Spit “.
I can just picture a group of Gents all Spitting when something is mentioned!
