I don't use my Fluke for much more than checking continuity and DC voltages but I have often wanted alligator clips instead of the probes.
Went to the Fluke site and found these:

Anyone have a cheaper solution for this kind of situation?
 
I have a few alligators that have a tube for soldering wire into and a few that I have crimped down to fit snugly over the probe ends. So for 48US, I would even run a tap into a tube and solder it to the alligator.
 
I bought these a while ago. No issues and the protected plugs fit Flukes.

Sorry David, I'm late to this thread.

I have and like the @Arbutus test leads too.

In a pinch, I clamp regular double ended test leads (double alligator style) to the pin style like an extension. The gator cover will shield the pin too if the pin is inserted into the gator jaws length wise.

Some fluke meters come with interchangeable tip leads in the box.
 
I made my own by just cutting off the probes and soldering on some aligator clips to an extra set of leads. They certainly come in handy. For far too long before I did that, I would just jam an aligator clip onto the lead and crimp it on there.....

For $13 those look better than mine. Might have to pick some up.
 
@pdentrum, thse are the ones I have not had luck with. They allow the clip to rotate, sometimes the leade dos 'bad things. the ones I had didn't clamp well to the leade, which didn't help
 
Yes they can/will rotate around the pin. Not much you can do about that, round hole with round pin. Make up some with soldered on clips is the only cure.

If anybody wants a hot tip on meters…. Fluke is THE BEST undoubtedly, no argument, at all. Accessories, everything, the best. But you pay for it like crazy.

There’s a brand of meter, “Brymen” that is manufactured in Taiwan…..

You can get your hands on those for ALOT less than fluke, and the quality and functionality will not dissapoint you.

They even have some functions fluke does not offer or only offers on very high end meters…..

These are not cheap meters, so don’t look them up and expect to pay 50$.

These are very good industrial quality meters suitable for professional use, and for a comparable fluke meter you’ll pay about a third ish.

They have proper input protection and are all CSA rated with CAT ratings.

They also come with alligator clips, and their leads are silicone and very satisfactory in quality.

Also interchangeable with fluke leads ;)

I picked that up a couple years ago, TPI brand? It works for what I need. I was messing around sourcing back probing tools but bought a power probe instead. I should revisit where I left off with the back probe tools

I buy from them all the time although lately not as much. I bought my Amprobe meter from them. It doesn't have clips either so these ones from amazon look interesting.

Not sure what the difference is other than the caps for the plugs.
