  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

A really BIG gun.

I also know enough about black powder and smokeless powder to know that I don’t know enough to mess with them.

Very wise words.

I like to say, the more you know, the more you know you don't know. I think you know way more than the rest of us do. I don't really know enough to know what you know you don't know.

Think I'll stick with cannons that have no projectiles.

the more you know, the more you know you don't know.
as my Dad would say:
- He who knows not and knows that he knows not is a child. Teach him.
- He who knows not and knows not that he knows not is a fool.
Forget him.
- He who knows and knows that he knows is a wise man.
Learn from him.

Someone posted this on FB today.. interesting as these are what I am copying.

If you lined it with pipe, this would make a cool little potato cannon. We used to get away with using abs (not pcv), with a screw on breech plug and hairspray, fired off with a piezo bbq lighter ignition back in the days before the internet safety police would say it's a terrible idea. I'm sure it is, but none of us ever had any incidents, even with some very hot loads.
