My friend Brian bought one of this guys pallets. Basically more discs then you will ever use.
 
I've become a fan of the 4.5 or 5 inch grinders. I have 2 Makita 7 inch grinders and when the dust gets too thick I blow them clean, but the welding bench has 2 Milwaukee 4.5's and one Milwaukee with a zip disk and one battery operated cut off grinder.
I find I can do the same work just as fast with these, they don't squirt out the magic smoke, and cost only $60. The 7 and 8 inch grinders are to heavy and not as easy to control.
I use 5 inch disks, I found with squeeze in the press at the right spot, the guard will expand to clear a 5 incher.

Just be careful when putting different size disks on grinders. Not all sizes of grinding disks are rated to the same speed and can explode in use if spun to fast. Then they get removed from your hand and a hole stitched up. Ask me how I know. I was 20 or so at the time. It was late saturday night and the torch ran out of gas with 2inches left to cut. my buddy had put a larger disk on the grinder, as he had done dozens of time before, and handed it to me. I got the plat cut about 1/4 inch or so before there was a bang and my hand felt like it had been hit with a hammer. I though I was ok but my buddy saw the blood dripping from the glove. I removed the glove and was promptly taken to hospital. Dr said was sure I had broken every bone in my hand but wanted to do x-rays just as a formality. He couldn't believe the results, not a single broken bone. The disk hit the back of my hand so hard my palm was bruised and completely swollen. I couldn't close my hand. The hole beside mt middle finger knuckle missed the tendon and just had to be stitched up. It was several painful weeks before I could use my hand again.

Sorry for the rant. When ever I hear about a wrong size disk being put on a grinder or a guard being taken off I have to warn people to learn from my mistakes.
 
In my opinion, the grinder in all its shapes and forms is the least understood and respected machine in the shop and therefore the most dangerous....... Don't ever stand in the line of fire when starting any grinder.....
