I use this little belt sander for fine finishing work such as chamfering, squaring to dimension and polishing.

I thought this might be of interest for other folks who use these machines for fine work. The table and its fences can be setup quite accurately to produce a true 90/90/90 part with an excellent finish.

The table is made from 1/4" 6061, drilled for M6 screws on a 20mm grid which matches my other tooling plates. It is guided by a 1/2" bar in the table slot and the whole arrangement was carefully made square and true on the mill.

There are several accessories - the 90 degree reference fence, an angled fence and end stops. It fits the vertical belt table as well as the disk table.

Used with a vee block, circular parts can be dressed very neatly to any desired chamfer angle.

Setup is easy with a square or angle blocks. The 90 degree fence is usually kept locked in position as a reference edge.

Arrangement for edge finishing - the work fits between the fence and the belt.
This setup can also be used for tapering to a slight angle.

Very nice. I have a similar 1x42 belt sander and use it like you do and really quite like it. Those tables you made for yours would be a great addition to mine. I just recently busted the cheesey little mitre gauge for the disc side so am on the lookout for a replacement that doesn't cost a fortune.

Nice. I like what you did to it. Mine has a 5" wide belt, but I'd like to see if I could modify it to work like that too.

Do you have a model name?

Is it my imagination or do you actually have like 50 grinders lined up behind it?

The grinder graveyard ! Actually one of those is going to be the driver for a 2x48 sander that is still a twinkle in my eye. There are some good plans available for those but I'll probably roll my own and include a larger table.
