  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. So I've jumped into the rabbit hole

I got a new controller and I figured out why the printer wasn't running the g code on the onboard sd card. It was because the hot bed wasn't preheated to the correct temperature for the selected filament, however the motors don't seem to be running with as much amperage when printing as they do...

    Laser Cutter/Engraver

Yeah I'm thinking it would be laser engraved. I have a stainless ruler and the marks and numbers look just like an engraving from both my Diode laser and my fiber laser. I've had in mind to make some stainless measuring tools myself like a protractor, and a longer ruler or square by cutting them...

Huge list of unfinished projects for the new year

I always have unfinished projects around. Some are still around because I haven't solved the problems that keep them from functioning properly. Those projects include much more electronic technology than metal fabrication. Other incomplete projects fall below actual requests I get from others...

    Laser Cutter/Engraver

I gave a description of the difference in the settings on the engraver between the engravings in the first two images. The second one is slightly lighter because it traveled at a speed of 2000mm/s instead of100mm/s both at full power and a frequency of 20khz.

Here's the test you mentioned Janger, on a 10 gauge mild steel flat bar. The first picture shows the results with the laser set to a speed of 100mm/s, and a frequency of 20khz. The second is 2000mm/s at 20khz and both are 100% power. The laser did a surprisingly good job engraving at 2000 in...

Introduction for Dave Hylands from Peachland, BC

Welcome Dave, from Calgary. Ive also always been interested in electronics and robotics. before I was introduced to metal fabrication I attempted to become an electronics engineering technologist. Some parts of that were too complicated, so I ended up withdrawing. However that ended up giving...

    Laser Cutter/Engraver

The g2max could easily cut through 2mm thick metal in 1 pass if you set the speed below 100mm/s with a lower frequency, but it's most often beter to run more passes at higher speed. I engraved my own portrait onto this brass coin which didn't take all that long, and it did come out in finer...

    Laser Cutter/Engraver

I Decided to go for the Gweike cloud g2 max 50w fiber laser. I did some research on Gweike, and their recent cloud g2 pro 30w fiber laser turned out to be very popular with good reviews. The g2 max is basically an upgrade of the g2 pro and they had it on sale for nearly 50% off which was an...
