    20 something kids

I'm just a grouchy old man with two sons who turned out OK due to no fault of myself. <rant> It seems to me that the today's problems are summed up in two words: "human right". That is, Food is a human right. Housing is a human right. Health care is a human right. A living wage is a human...

    Care Not Speed

I didn't mean to suggest that everyone shouldn't receive attention and support so that they achieve their potential. My concern is that we appear to be supporting those least apt to succeed to the detriment of those most likely to contribute -- smaller classes for "special needs" kids, class...

    Care Not Speed

Yes, those with the most potential should get more support. Yes, the brightest should be supported. However, teachers (and many others that the media reports on) favour more emphasis and more resources for "special needs" kids. That is, the dumb ones, the non-verbal, the ones whose behaviour...

    Really ?

I have no idea whether seat belts are actually a good idea. That said, I've been a believer since I was in HS, grade 12. My favourite teacher (grade 10, math) sadly met her demise by going through her car's windshield in a low speed parking lot accident without a seat belt.

    Really ?

I am reminded of a discussion with an ER doctor friend. She referred to motorcycles as "donorcycles" since they often provided transplant organs. The riders were mostly young and in good physical condition. The only damage due to crashes was often the brain which she felt was obviously defective.

    WTB Felt

Have you checked local craft stores such as Michaels or DollarRama? They have felt but I'm unsure if it is wool or synthetic.

    Anyone using ChatGTP?

I've tried that plus giving the correct spelling. This mostly results in a strange error message to the effect that my instructions violate the graphic design standards for usage. It is a shame that I can't get the spelling right since otherwise the graphic design is appealing.

    Anyone using ChatGTP?

A little off-topic for machining with AI but... I have tried to use Microsoft CoPilot (ChatGPT-4 based) to produce advertising posters for some local events. I like the general look of the results but I'm plagued with the many spelling errors (see attached). Any suggestions?

Request to do a small machining job

Note that a #12 drill is about 0.189 (4.8mm for those imperially impaired) and readily available at most any Canadian industrial supply store such as KBC.
