    Real estate listings suck

Oh pft, I wish it were $0.5m would be way easier...down here in the southern part of Ontario those sort of lots are typically $1.0-1.5m.

Find the conservation authority for your area's mapping tool, they'll show you regulation limits, flood plains, wetlands, etc. and you'll quickly discover that any prime piece of vacant land that isn't already built on is 99 times out of 100 not buildable due to restrictions. That, or the price...

    Terrible QC - Toilet Edition

Well, good news I guess, returned the two flawed ones I had and went to a plumbing supply shop and got a "Cadet Pro" instead of the Home Depot "Cadet 3". Almost entirely the same toilet but the castings and glazing are good and a lot of what was plastic is now brass or other more durable...

    Terrible QC - Toilet Edition

That is just insanity...it can't be profitable to take that many returns? And I guess it's not even QC that's the unprofitable part, fix the darn manufacturing process upstream so you have less junk in the first place.

    Terrible QC - Toilet Edition

Ugh, sooo, went and bought a new toilet yesterday. American Standard Cadet, nothing fancy, mid range price, but shouldn't be total garbage. Get it home, lots of marks in the glazing of the bowl, tank is good though...store is closing in a half hour so run back without packing up the first one to...

    Anyone using ChatGTP?

Fair enough...though the difference with these AI things is that it can string together complete nonsense, it's effectively just a bunch of probabilities about what word comes next. At least with a dumb person there's still a coherant thought they are trying to convey (even if it's wrong) and...

    Anyone using ChatGTP?

This is going to be the problem, people are going to lose the ability to create and correct documentation, and the AI won't know any better than what it is fed...it's eventually going to result in a huge loss of knowledge and increase in stupidity and we might not be able to find our way out of...

    Anyone using ChatGTP?

The problem is it's typically people telling the AI to generate the content, maybe doing one skim read, then posting it as their own work... Though YouTube has got something close they make me answer on each video I upload:

    Anyone using ChatGTP?

I've never really found any of these LLM things very useful, they are slower (after all the refinement that is needed) and less precise than I can just do out of my head for tasks they might be useful for. I can type as fast as most people can talk and form my thoughts quite quickly, so I can...

    New tracking at Amazon

Have seen this for the last ~6 months on some orders if you look at the right time. It's kinda neat. Dominos has been doing this for years with their delivery drivers.
