    Tool Copper vise jaws

At great risk of outing myself as a complete OCD nutjob maniac who just doesn't know when to stop (most of you know that already) ..... here's my quick change vise jaw system. Spring loaded ball detents snap into grooves on each insert. You lose some daylight, but for me (same vise as the...

    Help Identifying a Mechanism

That's what I suggested the dial might be from, but the bases are not alike.

Tools you waited too long to acquire

yeah, but after all the bloody set screws are mixed up the horse is long gone. I tried gluing a crappy tire one once with cyanoacrylate, didn't work .... i know it depends on the type of plastic, what worked for you with those cheapo ones?

I heard Bill was quitting machining to pursue his first love: photography. Its a Maximat, my guess is a 7. With a bunch of tooling an accessories that would be a good deal, nice little machine

"small" lathe tooling - any pointers?

I've several 8 and 10mm lathes I want to use these on, the plan is to make precision shims for each. Put say a 1/8" dowel pin in collet, fit an adjustable parallel underneath, carefully measure and make a really precise shim ..... then any tool can be dropped into any lathe and will be dead on...

    Show us your pups

Kind of agree, like a good conversation at a party with people whose company you enjoy. There is a watchmaking forum I used to really like and was quite active in. But then some very retentive types start trying to act like site librarians. They picked like 30 sticky topics and started...
