  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

    Actually... both were autofeed. However, I have no idea what my feed speed is. Haven't played with the gears at all yet. I was running at about 950 rpms for the brass and approx 550 rpms for the steel. The brass is very smooth. I'm enjoying practicing and all the trial and error.

    Happy Saturday! Managed to make two tools: 1 for steel. 1 for brass. Both RH tools. Brass was amazing. Steel was a little rougher but still way better than I had! Still getting used to my little machine but very happy with these results! Thanks for everyone's help!

    Wow... thanks for the detailed reply @trevj! 5 Amazon HSS blanks and metal protractor arrived yesterday so I have my week-end planned. My bench grinder is one from the 80s Canadian Tire. It works well but the rests are mangled. I think I'll spend some time getting a better rest set up. I watched...

    Just an update: I sharpened the side that had the chip breaker ground in and did some l-r cutting. Wow... what a difference sharpening makes! (Tried sharpening the carbide ones with very little success.) So off to Busy Bee for blanks (and protractor) and make my own! Once again, thanks for all...
