    Some rotab work!

Thought I would post some recent work on the rotary table. Not sure what others do for process control when machining multiple parts on the rotab but I use markers to locate numbers for repeat work. It helps to make sure you don't mess up hitting the numbers by using a visual que. I've never...

    Fun on the mill!

My safe lock crapped out on my the other day. Luckily I was able to get it open one last time. Today I spent time designing/machining and preparing a new lock for it. This time I made it so if it fails again it's a simple swap out.

    Home shop insurance

A guy on another forum was asking about insurance for his home shop and it got me thinking, I wonder how many guys have a separate policy for their shop! Or, better yet how many people even know that if they ever had a problem (Fire, theft, so on...) and the insurance co found out they sold the...

    Tailstock DRO

Any suggestions for one that won't break the bank? One that's able to withstand a bit of coolant mist.... I started making a mount to hold a cheap linear slide for my tailstock but when a light mist of coolant landed on the slide it almost immediately crapped out and it says it's rated IP57. I...

    CA-ON Jewelers rolling mill

Looking to buy a small rolling mill but don't want to spend too much as it will likely get used once to flatten some gold for laser engraving. I might even build a small one but for time sake buying a used one. Thanks

    Refining/reclaiming gold for inlay question

I am planning on doing some gold inlay on a watch and have never done it before, one of the operations is to melt your gold (old jewelry on hand) and form it into a wire. As I understand, it then has to be annealed again to make it dead soft to inlay. Anyone have any information? It would be...

    Watch case luges

Working on a watch and I thought I'd share some pics of the lug work. Lugs need to be tilted slightly to allow the center-drill/drill to reach the bottom lug without colliding with the top one, this makes it tough to get the pilot hole started due to the center-drill wanting to skate on the...

    Making watch indices

Rounding the bend on my personal watch build and had to find a way to finish silver indices for the dial. They are so small you can barely hold them. Saw a comment elsewhere about laser welding it gave me an idea how to work hold these for finishing!
